Astronia

Astronia is a wearable mixed-reality system that guides users from the tangible to the virtual. It integrates hardware and software development to create a responsive environment that seamlessly connecting the physical and digital worlds. The name “Astronia,” derived from the Latin word astrum meaning “star,” evokes a realm that transcends the physical world, bridging the gap between reality and virtual reality.

Inspired by the concept of media as “extensions of man” (McLuhan, 1964), this project incorporates a mechanical glove equipped with photography and projection functions, along with a VR headset procedure that can generate 3D models and allows users to draw in virtual reality using gesture recognition and visualize their personal environments in an immersive way.

Astronia focuses on interactions at the border between the digital world and reality, creating a tangible experience that extends beyond the media itself.
